{Starry Sky and Directions}

§292 · January 1, 2012 · ?@#&%$*?, Did you know? · (No comments)

It’s well past time for a “Did you know?” post, so I tried to think of something I’d recently learned that I’d found interesting. And while this may be old knowledge to some a you, for me it’s all sparkly new and intriguing. So, now that I’ve given it a completely over the top build-up…

Did you know that in the past, people traveling across giant deserts, the Sahara for example, would use the stars to navigate much as the sea captains of old did? Now, I know you may be thinking, “Duh? North Star, Suza?” but seriously, I never really thought about the vastness of the sky in the desert, especially if the geography is flat enough or far enough.

The idea of being a ship afloat on the sands just sounded appealing to me. I don’t know why. Maybe I was feeling romantic or adventurous. Or both.

As for what I was doing when I pondered this idea…all I’ll say is…Drake is hot.

{Looking Forward}

A I sit here with Loki rubbing his head on my hand and making it very hard to type, I realize how excited I am for 2012 to come on in. That, however, makes me feel like taking a good, hard look at 2011, and all in all, it’s been a great year.

The 2nd and 3rd books of The Savannah Coven series were well received and have led to a pace that is driving both me and my publishers a little crazy. When is the next book coming out? has become my favorite question while simultaneously causing me to take a deep breath to remain calm.(several deep breaths)  But it’s a feeling I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Another thing about 2011, is that it was the year of the great con. You might remember O’Malley (my orange tomcat) being sick the summer of 2010. He’d been diagnosed with kidney disease, and we were certain he only had a few months to live. Now here it is December, almost a year and a half later, and he is not only hanging in there but has firmly established himself as the full-time house cat. With all the trimmings. (But I couldn’t be happier.)

My loved ones are healthy, though a few had a very close brush with the Alabama tornado, and my sweetheart can still stand me. Miracles do happen!

Last of all, I have been very lucky to have become involved in a particular military organization that has allowed me to meet the kind of people we romance writers do our best to create. If I ever need an example of heroism, self-sacrifice, humor, bravery, or morality, all I need to do is remember the men I’ve met over this past year. There are still people out there who do what is right when they think no one is looking. There really are.

At least once a day I see or hear something that makes me realize how hard times are for some of us. People have lost jobs, savings, and too many have seen their retirement nest eggs shrink. All I can do is give when and where I can and say thank you to the rest of you out there who do the same and so much more.

So yes, I am looking very forward to 2012, and I truly hope we all have a happy and peaceful new year.

Wow, how sad of a blogger am I? I can write a book but strain to pop off a few sentences? Ugh.

Anyway, I’ve finally gotten the word that “She Who is Hidden” will be released next year!! It’s the second book I ever wrote, and after quite a few edits and re-writes, it has been deemed publish-worthy! I’m really excited, because this book means a lot to me. It’s not paranormal, but a romantic suspense with a history/adventure spin.

No worries, those witches are still coming on strong, and I’m seriously attached to them at any rate.  ” )

I don’t have a specific release date yet, but 2012 is the perfect year for it, considering the plot. (Did you catch that teaser?) Well, I was never one for subtlety. Hope you are all having a great autumn, and I will visit the blog more often.

Due to Hallowed Eve‘s stellar sales in the ebook market, my publisher has deemed it worthy of a print! Wahoo!

Just in time for Halloween, a little romantic suspense served with a side of pumpkin!

{What do you think about…}

§281 · August 14, 2011 · ?@#&%$*? · 2 comments

seeing a few of the places that inspire the setting for The Savannah Coven Series? I’ve been thinking of posting a few pictures of the areas mentioned or alluded to in the books. Maybe a video here or there of some cool downtown spots? Just an idea…

{A Trailer! A Trailer!}

Whoop! I am so excited. (I must be, you say, if I’m finally blogging again)  I just got the news that an official Savannah Coven Series trailer is in the making.

I can barely sit still in my ergonomically correct computer chair! Will it be cool? Will it be dark? Will it be hot? Of course it will, because the man making it is a stupendous talent!

It got me thinking, and looking , so I thought I’d share a book trailer I’d found and ask all of you to share some of your favorites. I’ve put the link below for your viewing pleasure, but before I go…can I just say one more time…Whoop!

This has nothing to do with books, cats, or writing but anyway…

I was in Jamaica this past week and was very excited to visit a popular attraction called Dunns River Falls. It was so gorgeous and gave me the opportunity to feel like an adventurer! (With guides and a well-traveled path) Either way, it was fun!

We were wondering if we should go to the falls, despite the good reviews we’d heard, because it was our last day on the island. When we saw a picture of the falls on the back of some of their money, we decided it must be worth it. It so was.

Now I’m back at the keyboard, working on the next book, but at least I have some pictures to remind me of my brief time as a jungle explorer.!

I was going to blog about a particular author who decided to abuse some of us in an author’s group…but then I decided to go to LOL cats to find my zen.

It worked. Look at this woman’s face and read the story. How wonderful that must have felt!

My baby!
