This is a little off topic for me but here goes. Due to a massive case of writer’s avoidance (I don’t call it block-I call it what it is) I’ve been completely gorging on Asian horror flicks. The title Asian Crush is from a pretty prominent company making the movies. Now, I’ve always loved Japanese horror films, and the Chinese are getting there, but let me say that after the movies I found this weekend…Korea has got it going on!
If you’re up for something different (and yes, they all have subtitles, but that actually gets to be fun when the translation is bad) you should watch the Korean film “The Bestseller.” (At least I was trying to get myself in the right frame of mind!) Though there may have been one twist too many, it was a fun ride and an enjoyable break from the usual.
On that note, I’m going to pretend I’m one of those horror movie blogs and list the movies I liked best. If you’re a Netflix customer, you’re in luck! They are all instant play/streaming.
So here’s my list, and let me know if you watched any!–Suza
Suza’s Asian Horror Flick Writing Avoidance Weekend Top (however many I can remember) List
1) The Bestseller (Really good!)
2) Blood: The Last Vampire (Really Cool Movie! Kill Bill meets The Walking Dead in Asia)
2) The Ghost- (Good)
4) Muoi: The Legend of a Portrait (Pretty good)
5) White (Silly premise but fun)
6) Shutter (The American version was much better. Sorry!)
7) I Saw the Devil (Weird and I didn’t finish)
8 ) The Evil Twin (Only good for the hysterical English translation subtitles!)
Robo-Geisha (I only admired the title and didn’t watch it) (Yet)
Sick Nurses (Stay far away from this movie. far, far away)
